May … Maizey’s May Momentum

Good day and welcome to the May Highlights edition of The Maizey Way!  May saw Maizey once again travelling the globe and the continent with participation in and exhibiting at incredible shows and visiting important countries for our loyal customers.

Global Travel – FESPA Berlin
We had the privilege of visiting FESPA Berlin, where we connected with long-standing suppliers—some with over 50 years of partnership—as well as exciting potential new partners.  Representing Maizey were Chief Sales Officer Trevor Norman, Chairman Rikki Maizey, and for the first time abroad, Regional Sales, Manager Hamilton Serekwana.

A special congratulations to Hamilton for being selected - his 20+ years of experience brought a fresh and valuable perspective to the show. This experience will no doubt benefit our staff and customers alike.

Our participation in FESPA Berlin is a testament to our unwavering commitment to our loyal customers.  Every conversation, handshake, and exploration of new products was done with one goal in mind—bringing the best in global innovation and service excellence back home.  As market demands grow more dynamic, we believe in staying ahead by maintaining strong relationships with trusted partners and continually seeking out the latest technologies to enhance the value we offer. Maizey remains dedicated to listening, learning, and leading so that our customers continue to receive top-tier solutions tailored to their evolving needs.

Shows, Shows, Shows – Hobby X & Craft Launch
Maizey Craft was thrilled to exhibit at the flagship craft event of the year - Hobby X Craft Expo. It was a chance to reconnect with long-time supporters, introduce new lines of craft products, and engage with our ever-growing community.

In addition to the expo, we celebrated the official launch of our brand-new Maizey Craft Store in Longmeadow, Edenvale.  We were deeply moved by the turnout, with customers traveling from as far as Sasolburg.  Our open day featured fantastic specials, refreshing cold drinks, and delicious boerewors rolls. The overwhelmingly positive response affirmed that our Craft division continues to inspire and serve a loyal and creative audience.

Nampo Bothaville – Maizey Engineering
We proudly continued our long-standing tradition of participating in South Africa’s premier agricultural event - Nampo Bothaville. Together with our partner Polyvantis, we showcased our Lexan Polycarbonate products, renowned for their strength and durability.

We had a little fun too - Africa’s former strongest man took on the challenge of breaking one of our sheets with a sledgehammer. After ten mighty hits and a few cheers from the crowd, he managed only a slight dent.  The only thing that broke on the day?  A sweat!  Our sheet stood firm, proving its incredible resilience.

Beyond the demos, we highlighted our expanding Maizey Engineering range with custom-fabricated products including crop harvesters, machinery enclosures, and agricultural innovations tailored to the sector’s specific needs.  To all our visitors, customers, and dedicated staff—thank you for your energy and support.  We can’t wait to welcome you back next year.

Plexiglas Training Days
Back in the city, Maizey teamed up with Plexiglas to host training days across several branches.  Attendees got hands-on insights into various Plexiglas product applications, bonding techniques, and expert tips to maximise usage.

This initiative reinforces our commitment to knowledge sharing, technical support, and empowering our customers with practical expertise.

Innovative Training Facilities – Bellville & Durban
Maizey is thrilled to announce that our brand-new training and experience centres in Bellville and Durban are nearing completion. These centres will feature dedicated training facilities specifically designed to support product demos, technical workshops, and customer training events.

We are proud to partner with Coverstyl’ South Africa, Avery Dennison, and Plexiglas to deliver immersive learning experiences.  A very special thanks goes to 3A Composites for their generous sponsorship and supply of high-quality materials which will be featured in both centres.  Their contribution showcases our shared commitment to the loyal customer base we proudly serve.

A heartfelt shout-out to Marius van der Sandt, Chantelle Robertze, and our ‘Royal Shortness’ Robbie Lambe for their dedication and tireless efforts in bringing these projects to life. Stay tuned - these centres will soon become hubs of innovation and learning!

Staff Updates – Welcomes and Changes
People are the heart of any organisation. To those leaving, thank you for your service - we wish you the best. To our new staff, welcome to the Maizey family!

Also, a momentous leadership transition:  Chairman Rikki Maizey has officially stepped down from his role as Chief Marketing Officer to focus fully on his duties as Chairman. In his place, we welcome his son, Richard James Maizey (#9), as the new Chief Marketing Officer.  Having grown through various departments at Maizey, Richard brings invaluable experience to the role.  Congratulations, Richard!
